From Marc: Looking forward to 2021.

As we wrap up the holiday shipping season, Digital Cents is already working towards a successful 2021.

Our goal for 2021 is simple: Stock enough merchandise so we’re not “Out of Stock”. That’s the story of 2020 after all. Although demand was considerably higher during 2020, generally, there is always a shortage of goods in the hobby industry. Moving forward, we looked over our 2020 sales and compared them to pre-Covid sales of 2019. For hot-selling items, we went ahead and placed orders for an entire year of that item. In other words, if we sold 300 units of an item during 2019 and again in 2020 then we went ahead and ordered 300 units for 2021. In the past we would have divided that 300-unit order into monthly orders and ordered 20 to 30 each month. If that item was unavailable from the manufacturer, it could mean a delay of several weeks if not months in restocking.

To summarize, for popular SKUs, we ordered a one year supply of merchandise.

From Marc: April Update and the Economy Opening

Digital Cents continues to operate at a reduced capacity. We are filling orders on a daily basis, from Monday through Saturday. Overall, the lack of manpower on our end is slowing us down but we’re getting orders shipped as quickly as possible.

There has been a great deal of talk in the media recently regarding the economy re-opening in the USA. Although we’re excited about this, Digital Cents will be proceeding very cautiously. It’s unlikely that our warehouse operation will resume at full capacity on Day 1. The situation will be assessed on a daily basis but if I had to throw out a number I would say that we will most likely be returning to our regular system within 14 Days from the official government directive.

Next: Bachmann Trains Supplies

Based on feedback, we’ve decided to add the Bachmann Trains line of products to the website.

The addition of website inventory is being driven by client feedback. What this means is that if you want to see something up on the site then tell us.

We started with the Tamiya Paints & Supplies because multiple clients needed access to that ‘live’ inventory. Now, a handful of people have asked for the Bachmann Trains to be put online so that’s next. As of right now, the estimate for Bachmann Trains is early February.

A Functional Digital Cents Website!

We’re putting the DC site back together!

The new site will is a simple WooCommerce site which will allow our wholesale clients to submit their orders online. The site will have a formal check-out. As a client, you will checkout but will not render payment at that time. Once the order is pulled and we have confirmed availability we will notify you.

This site isn’t meant to be pretty. It’s purpose is to facilitate ordering. The site will allow you to place orders for items that are currently unavailable hence generating a request for the item. We can then order that item on your behalf.

New merchandise is being put up daily in the following order:

  1. All 23ml Tamiya Paints
  2. All Tamiya Tools (including sandpaper, cements, etc)
  3. RC Kits (including Semi Trucks, High Lifts, buggies, etc)
  4. All 10ml Tamiya Paints

At this time there is no plan to put all of the Tamiya RC Parts. Please reach out to us if there is a category you would like to see online.
